Unable to access database files

I have an Access database which is located on a network
server. I have been using the database for quite a while.
Today when I accessed the file nothing displayed. I can
not view my tables, quiries, forms, etc. It opens up in an
empty Access Window. The file size is correct indicating
that the files are still there. I have had this happen to
a much larger database and have never been able to figure
out the problem. I have been making regular backups of the
larger file but unfortunately I have not made any backups
of the latest file which has developed the same problem.
The larger database is 120MB. It too will show the correct
file size however nothing in the database is accessable.
PLEASE HELP. These are critical files and I am dumb-
founded as to what the problem my be.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP

I seen this happen but it's always turned out that the
database window was just minimized and hard to find. If
you still can't find try this:
Create a new empty database goto File|Get
External|Import Select your problem database and you
should get a list of all the objects. Select and import
all the objects into the new database.

I first checked to see if the database could have been
minimized. That was not the problem. I was the last one to
access the database. I have also tried to create a new
database and import the files from the problem database.
No files would display for importing. I have tried using
another vendors database (Alpha 5) and importing the files
from the bad database. This worked partially. I was able
to import the files into the new Alpha 5 database. I can
open the tables and view all the work which I have done
today. However I need the file to be in Access. I am not
familier enough with the Alpha 5 to know if I can export
to Access. I did have one table which would not import to
Alpha 5. When I chose not to import that table all others
imported with no problem. Its frustrating when I can view
the files in another vendors software but not in Access.

There are a few other things you can try.

I have had this problem in Office 2003. For some reason, the ability to
access the database just goes away, although it appears that the database
file itself still exists.

Clicking on the menu choice Help, followed by "Detect and Repair" seems to
cure the problem (although it takes quite a while for Office to complete the
process). Why the problem crops up in the first place escapes me, and is
something I would very much like to have explained.
