Unable to Access Server Administration

L

Lin Farmer

I am setting up a secure subwebsite for use by the members of our
organization only. After several frustrating hours of trying to follow the
directions provided by Front Page 2003, and several helpful other websites I
finally deleted Foxfire entirely and I was then able to get past the silly
You must have Internet Explorer message. Unfortunately now when I click on
Tools\Server\Administration absolutely nothing happens, the little circle
spins for a few seconds then nothing, nada, right back where I started. No
new pages open for me to set the permissions (I have also tried clicking on
Permissions and Change Password but the results are the same). My webshost
is Acorn Hosting and according the the control panel since I have FP
extensions enabled I can't use their password protection for the folder and
must use Front Page instead. What am I doing wrong?

You are possibly doing nothing wrong.
The web pages used for 2002 extensions admin. are Internet Explorer only,
which means your default browser must be IE. FireFox need not be removed -
it simply can't be the default browser.

Do Acorn Hosting support changing permissions with the extensions? Some
hosts insist on doing this themselves, and others don't support it at all.

If the feature is supported, then ask Acorn Hosting to run a server health
check on your site.
