Unable to access the file "frontpg.lck"

Eric Carr

Hi,

I am using FP2000, publishing to IIS 5.0 with SE2002.

After creating a new website, extending it to SE2002, assigning an
admin to it, frontpage tells me...

"The server extensions were unable to access the file "frontpg.lck".
Please check the file permissions."

.... wether i try to publish a web to the site, or open the existing
web. I've tried giving the site admin full control permissions on this
spesific file, but the same error occurs. I've also tried deleting
frontpg.lck, restarting iis etc, still the same result.

Any ideas, anyone?

Regards,
Eric Carr

Thanks - I did, and the file was recreated by the check. However, I
keep getting the same error when publishing or opening...

The server extensions check did run "Tighten security", and it keeps
telling me it could be tightened for each check, even though it is
fixed. Is that relevant?

Any other ideas?

I tried that now.
Even with the file deleted, my attempts to either open the web from
frontpage, or publishing directly to the website from frontpage, keep
resulting in the same error message as mentioned...

You will always be prompt to tighten security with each check and the .lck
file should be recreated when you run the check or access the web via FP.

Delete the file again, but do not run a check on the extensions until you
have attempt to open the site directly in FP.

See if restarting IIS helps, after you delete the .lck file.

The file was deleted, IIS stopped and started, the file was still
gone, and the same error persists both when trynig to publish and open
the web..

Ok, I don't have any other suggestions.

Also try deleting all FP temp files and any *.web cache files
