Unable to access the internet

I have been unable to access the internet for the past
several weeks. I get an error message as follows:
Internet Explorer has encountered an internal error.
Then, there's a lot of other info that follows. I have
cable internet access along with AOL and I'm running on
Windows 98. Can someone please give me some tips on how
to resolve this problem? I would really appreciate any
suggestions. Thanks.
