Unable to access the Microsoft Project Portfolio Analyzer OLAP cube

Good Morning,

Yesterday, ops upgraded my computer to windows XP professional, I can
no longer access the OLAP cube via PWA from my machine
a Client PC (Windows XP Pro SP2). Every thing else in PWA works like it
should. When I attempt to modify a view I get:

"Unable to access the Microsoft Project Portfolio Analyzer OLAP cube.
The cube may not exist, or you may not have permissions to access the
cube. "

If I try to access PA it locks up IE. There are no event log errors.

I can access and see it with PWA from the Project Server. I am the
admin and all other uses in the domain can access it without any
problem.

Any thoughts on how to fix this.

Hi

It sounds like you need Office Web Components reinstalling

This is usually installed with Office 2003 - if you already have office
installed ... Office Web Components can be re-installed on its own

I hope this helps

Chris,

Thanks for trying to help.

I kind of thought that might be the problem and tried it earlier with
no luck. I also tried re-intalling the activeX controls.
The problems remains, if you have any more ideas I would be happy to
try them.

Cheers,

Kevin

Post script: I just tried logging on from a different workstation same
result. It will only work from the projectserver for me that is?
Everyone else works fine. I also tried deleting and adding me back to
the roles in the cube itself. Still no good.

Kevin:

Try clearing your browser cache and cookies. If that doesn't work, you might
want to check the XP firewall settings after a fresh upgrade of SP2.

Gary,

I cleared the cookies and cache, no help there.

I checked the firewall and it was on so I turned it off still no help.

I tried logging on as the admin from another machine that does access
the PA, and it does not work?

What can I try now fearless leader? :)

Do you have the discussions bar enabled in IE? Any other addons installed
with your upgrade? Different Virus software?

K

kwwatson

Not sure what a discussions bar is so I do not think I have this on.

Macfee ver 8 was installed, it was ver 7 proir to the upgrade. The only
other program installed was Adobe ver 7.

I was able to logon to a windows 2000 machine and it worked fine. The
problem is local to the new rebuilt desktop. Other users in the network
also log on ok and they also have ver 8 of Macfee installed.

Kevin:

There are known issues with this version of McAfee. There's a fix on
McAfee's site that users have posted here.

K

Problem solved, it had nothing to do with Macfee or XP, it was the way
my computer was logging onto the network. They had negeleted to add my
name back to the proper groups when logging onto the domain. Thanks
everyone for trying to help!
