Unable to activate Office 2003, despite deleting opa.dat

I have a genuine Office 2003 S&T edition. License indicates I can install on
3 machines at home - Its running OK on 1. I've installed on a new desktop but
nothing happens when I attempt to activate. The new machine had a trial copy
but I did not register it, I installed my own S&T copy instead.

I have uninstalled, removed opa11.dat, reinstalled, and still nothing
happens when I click on activate. No wizard, nothing. What do I do next?

Did you uninstall the trial version first before installing your copy?

Then try uninstalling all versions of Office and then install your purchased
version. There are numerous reports of problems when installing over the
Trial version - uninstalling it first before installing the full retail
version seems to fix the majority of them.

Thanks. I have already done that - twice - the frst time was before I found
the opa11 instruction. I've looked at Article ID 313938, but it does not
apply to Office 2003, only earlier versions. Is there a similar instruction
for 2003?

As I can't open the wizard, I can't even get a phone number to activate. And
presumably I would still need the wizard to complete the process.
