I have emails received via hotmail in Outlook 2003 from my wife's brother in
China - in Chinese.
I can open them and see the incorrect US encoding, but when I try to change
encoding - nothing happens.
View-> Encoding->Chinese Simplified (GB2312) - appears selected, but message
content does not change.
Tried some others - View->Encoding->Chinese Simplified(GB18030) and the
content changes but is still unreadable. Tried going into Outlook 2003
Language settings, remove and re-add Chinese, restart Outlook - no difference.
Note: This email is readable in Internet Explorer - logging in through
www.hotmail.com and changing encoding in IE to Chinese Simplified (GB2312)
does work.
I also was able to change encoding successfully in Outlook 2002 - just does
not work after upgrading to Outlook 2003.
Side note for MS: Another flaw in Outlook - encoding changes do not affect
'Subject' line (saw this in Outlook 2002) - not a big deal, but should be
fixed.
Suggestions please,
Thank you,
Swifty
