Unable to check project back in

Yesterday I was working on a project stored on project server. I may have
closed it having saved it but not published the changes, I can't remember.
However, now when I try to open it from the same workstation, I get this
error:

You have this project open read-write in another session.
To open this project read-write, you must close the project in the other
session or check in the project using Project Web Access.

I am certain that I do not have the project open in another session. When I
try to check it in using the web, it tells me that any changes that may have
been made will be lost.

Does anyone have any tips on how to regain access to my project without
losing my latest work?

Thanks,
Joel

Dale,

That is what I did before, but upon getting your reponse I did it again and
inspected the warning message more closely. With your reassurance, my
conclusion this time was that the message was for a situation wherein the
user still has the project open on their desktop, with unsaved changes.
Since that is not the case, I went ahead and checked it in.

I take it that when I save (but don't check in) my project, it is actually
getting saved to the Project Server database in SQL, not to some file some
place else?

Thanks,
Joel

JoelB --

Normally, when you save and close a project, Project Server checks in the
project automatically. Sometimes, however, the project get's "stuck" in
checked out mode. As you may have noticed in the SQL Server part of our
FAQ, the only difference between a checked out project and a checked in
project is a single value for that project in the SQL Server database. So
to answer your question, the project is saved in the Project Server
database, and not in some file someplace else. Hope this helps.

I did note the bit-flipping in the SQL procedure. Makes sense.

Thanks for your input!
