Unable to connect to my exchange server.

Bill

Hello,
I have an issue with my microsoft outlook. When i open up
outlook it says it cannot connect to the exhange server,
(we have exhange2000) Anyhow, when I access my email
through our website, it works fine. I need to get my
outlook to connect directly to the exhange server, and
not go through our website. I have uninstalled and
reinstalled microsoft office, and also windows xp (safe
version, keeping my files intact). The next step would be
to totally wipe out the hard drive, and re-install
everything, ms office, autocad 2004, adobe
acrobat....etc.... Please let me know if there is
anything else I might be able to do before I have to go
to this extreme! Thank you!

What version of Outlook is this? Exchange? Can you ping the exchange
server by name from the PC?

Based on the timing, had you installed the Microsoft patch for MS0-23 that
would have prevented your computer from getting the msblast.exe?

Oh, one more thing... does the name resolve when you set up the exchange
account? What type of authentication are you using with the account? Try
setting it to None and see if that works.

I am not too computer literate, i feel like an ape behind
this machine, can you please tell me how to get this mso-
23, and msblast.exe? our IT guy does think it has
something to do with the timing. Thanks Milly!

Bill

Wait Milly! i guess sometimes you just have to do what
your computer asks you to do, on xp, it says 'new updates
are ready to install' so i just close that box and go on
with my day, so today i decide to update, and sure
enough, i had 6 updates to install, after re-starting the
computer, outlook worked just fine! i suppose that was
the patch you were mentioning! thanks for all your help!
