unable to convert shapes to walls

When I use walls, doors and windows shapes and select PLAN, CONVERT TO WALLS,
I get "unable to convert shapes to walls". Ant suggestions on what may be
wrong?

This command is only for converting a line, or a polyline, a rectangle, a
circle, an circular arc into walls.
