Unable to create a http protocol url for my web page form

J

jewlery

I am using Microsoft Publisher 2003. I have received the url information
from my hosting service to create a new network place. Everytime I type my
http protocol url in the File Name box I get the following error message:
"Cannot find the url http://jewlery.fatcow.com"

Can someone please help me. I really need to get the web page form to work
as soon as possible.

J

jewlery

The site is published through FTP. I need to publish it using http so my
contact
form will send me the data entered by my contacts. I am unable to create a
http
protocol. I keep getting the error messages : ""Cannot find the url
http://jewlery.fatcow.com" I know the url works because it works in the
browser. I have followed microsoft's instructions on how to create the http
protocol in the network place but I am still unable to create the protocol.

I browsed to http://jewlery.fatcow.com/_vti_inf.html and thus confirmed
that FPSE is installed on your web space. If you read the FAQ
http://www.publishermvps.com/Default.aspx?tabid=30 and the uploading trouble
shooting article you'd have learned that FTP usage on FPSE can break FPSE.
Your next course of action is to tell the host to reinstall FPSE. When they
have that completed then follow my http publishing article.

I have spoken to my web host service about reinstalling FPSE. However they
were a little reluctant about doing this and said they would get back to me
in 24 to 48 hours. In case they will not do this I noticed in your trouble
shooting area you can setup forms without using FTP or FPSE by clicking on
use the ISP in the form property. If I go this route can I use it if I have
published my site using FTP. Just trying to find out what my options are if
my web host service does not reinstall FPSE. I have paid for this service
for a year and do not want to lose my money. I am using a trial version of
Microsoft Publisher 2003 and want this problem resolved before I make the
decision to purchase the full version.

Install/reinstalling the fpse takes like 10 seconds dunno why they would be
reluctant to push a button for you.

Ok, David or someone more experience with using Pub for web pages & forms is
gonna have to help you. From what i see the almost the entire page is
contained within Form tags and generally that is not how it should appear.

My hosting service and I have tried several times to upload my site using
your http instructions but we are unable to do so. We keep getting the
error
message cannot find the url. But when we type the url in the internet
browser window it works.

Are we going in circles? Anyway, so now it's clear that you have not
published in HTTP. That is why your form doesn't submit. Totally covered on
the FAQ page - http://www.publishermvps.com/Default.aspx?tabid=30

But you have an issue with HTTP publishing. On that, looking at that error
and your particular URL, my conclusion is that your web space and/or the FP
extensions have not been correctly configured on the web server by an
apparently inexperienced host provider.

Rather than own a domain ( i.e. www.davidbartosik.com ), your web space is a
sub-domain on someone else's (fatcow.com) domain. Usually with a sub-domain
address - subdomainname.domainname.com - you publish to the URL of the
directory, not to the sub-domain URL -
www.domainname.com/mysubdomainfolder/ - when using FPSE publishing (HTTP).

So they need to either give you a different URL for HTTP publishing, or they
need to get the configuration right. That's my call on it.

The problem now is that your confirmation page is outside your domain and
