Unable to create .pst folder in outlook 03

Sara

Hi,
I have installed outlook 03 and am unable to open it. When I try I get an
error message saying "Unable to open default email folders. Outlook could
not start because a data file to send and receive email could not be found.
To add a data file, such as a personal folder ....." The program then closes.
I have then gone through control panel as suggested but in data files - the
only thing listed is "business contact manager" file name "not available"
When I take the add option - The only thing listed to add is "business
contact manager"

I have tried creating an email address through control panel hoping that
would prompt it to create a file but no luck. I have already imported mail
and account information but I cant open the program (and perhaps the order of
the import might be where the problem began??)

Any help would be hugely appreciated - I have tried all I know ..

BTW - running windows XP

Thanks to all,

Sara

Thanks for the response - I exported all mail and settings from outlook
express before I even attempted to open outlook.

What type of email account do you have? Is this a personal computer or one
owned by your employer? It is possible to block the use of pst with a
registry hack.

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258277 - it works in later versions but
the number in the key needs changed from 8.0 to the correct version #.
