Unable to delete Checked out project

D

Dwayne Read

I have a couple of checked out projects that had an error
when closing the project, leaving them permanently checked
out. How can I force the deletion of a checked out project
(or force a check in of a project).

The Web | Admin | Clean up project server database does
not permit this, nor the delete button in the Open Project
dialog...

Thanks
Dwayne

Dwayne:

From PWA Admin menu, select Manage Enterprise Features > Checkin Enterprise
projects. Checkin the projects and then you'll be able to delete them.

Thanks Gary...but, when we try this approach the projects
that we want to check-in/delete are still "greyed out" or
not accessible.
Any other ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Gary

Thanks for your follow-up. They "rogue" projects are
greyed out in the "Open from Microsoft Project Server"
dialog box, and are not listed at all in the Manage
Enterprise Features | Checkin Enterprise Projects.

Notes:

1. we can check them out as "read only" from "Open from
Microsoft Project Server".

2. One project is viewable from the Projects | Project
Center web page, but another is not???

Our latest thought is to save the projects as files and
then rebuild the project server - but I am hoping for a
cleaner delete/check-in of rogue projects...

Thanks
Dwayne (and Kevin)

Dwayne:

Try opening the MSP_PROJECTS table in SQL Enterprise Manager. Change the
value of PROJ_CHECKEDOUT to 0 (zero) for the projects in question.

Gary, I just want to say thank you. I had a similar
situation where I had a project checked out and could not
check it back in. The SQL option did the trick.
