Unable to delete documents

G

Gazza

I'm a new user of Office:mac 2004. I'm trying to delete some Word
documents, but when I follow the usual formula: open the document and
click Versions, intending to click on an Existing Version, there is
nothing highlighted. No Existing Version exists.

I am just prompted to save a new version. I can delete that new
version, but not the existing one. Any thoughts?

Cheers

Why don't you just trash the document in Finder in the usual way?

As Paul says, how is that the "usual formula" for deleting a Word doc? That
would only delete a Version, which is only a portion of the document, I
believe.

Are you sure the document actually has Versions as Word interprets them?
Were the doc and the Versions originally created in Word 2004?

By the way, the Versions feature has been linked to corruption--I personally
wouldn't trust it. What does it offer you that File | Save As Filename#4
doesn't?

Versions are snapshots stored in a single file, not independent files.

See "About saving versions of a document" in Word Help.

Like I said, I am a new user. I've followed your suggestion and all is
wel. Thanks.
