Unable to delete Group Mailbox Task

Outlook 2003.
I am unable to delete a task from a group mailbox. I am not the owner of
the box but have edit rights, move, delete etc. The owner of the box is also
unable to delete the task from the group mailbox inbox. Message says "can't
open this item. The tasks folder cannot be found". It's not assigned

Is there a solution or is it doomed to stay forever.
