Unable to Delete Links to MS Access Tables

A

Al

Hi There:

I am using Access 2000 on a company LAN, and I had
established links to two tables in another database. The
source database for these two tables was moved to another
network share, and now I get the message "Share XXXXX is
not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled
correctly and that you are connected to the server on
which the file resides."

I've tried deleting the links to these two tables, but
after ansewring "Yes" to the question "Do you want to
remove the link to table XXXXX?" I just get the same table
list as before, with the old linked table still
displayed.

Any idea how to get rid of these links?

Thanks!

Hi Al,

If you have a linked table in your database, and you no
longer need it, you just select the table and press
delete. Access will ask you if you want to delete the
linked table, and you just confirm. If this is what you
are doing, I'm not sure what the problem could be (from
your message it sounds like you may have been deleting
the relationship in the relationships window though, but
I'm not sure)

If you were hoping to break the link, but keep a copy of
the data that was in the table before it moved, this will
not be possible because the data can no longer be seen by
Access. You would need to connect to the new database
and link or import the info.

By the way, if you want to keep the link to the tables at
the new network location, you can select "Tools|Database
Utilities|Linked Table Manager" from the menu and point
the tables to the new network location.

Try going to Tools~options~Edit/Find
deselect the three boxes in the "Confirm" frame.

Then highlight the table to be deleted and use the
toolbar "delete" button, not the rightclick menu selection.
