Unable to download updates from Mactopia

J

Joe Chiang

I installed Office X with 10.1.4 version of Word, PowerPoint, & Excel to my 1
GHz PB G4 and my 867MHZ G4 desktop and they all work fine. On either
machine, through modem or airport, when I go to Mactopia to download
updates I am unable to download either .bin or .hqx updates. I've try to
download different updates but all I get is a flash of another site and
immediately returns to the same downloads page. I am running OS 10.3.2
and normally uses Safari 1.2 browser, but I am also unsuccessful with
Netscape 7.1 and IE 5.2.3 in my attempts to download updates.

Thank you very much in advance for any help!

Regards,

Joe

I have no problem downloading today. It may have been a temporary glitch
- either at Mactopia or somewhere in between there and your ISP.

Are you still having problems?

Yes I still can't download from Mactopia. During download, something pops
up briefly at the corner of the dock and disappear and I get back to the
same download page.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not sure what's going wrong - I can download items just fine. If you
have accept cookies turned off by default, try allowing them
temporarily. Also, make sure javascript is turned on (I don't know that
this will make a difference, but it's worth a shot.)

Thank you for the advices! I could download if I use Option-click (or hold
down right mouse button and select "Download Linked File As") but the
normal way still just gives a flash of the application icon in the dock and no
download.

BTW, I do allow cookies and javascript is turned on. It is interesting that
downloading from Mactopia requires more work...

Again thank you!

It shoudn't ... it may be a problem with your browser not knowing how to
handle the specific links. The downloads work okay for me with a single
click, and work in an unmodified browser as well as one with Speed Disk
added.
