Unable to enable editing of foreign languages

BoxOfRocks

I am trying to write a Word document in Chinese, and have downloaded the
Language Pack and the IMEs for both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

After downloading, the Help function directs the user to enable editing by
going to Microsoft Office Tools and enable the applicable languages through
Microsoft Office XP Language Settings.

However, when I complete this step, the installation stops and I receive a
message stating that I need to have Microsoft Office XP with Front Page. I
do have MS Office XP, but not with Front Page. None of the Microsoft Web
sites mention that having Front Page is necessary.

Is Front Page necessary, or am I doing something wrong? Any advice is
appreciated.

Hi Box,

It sounds like it's asking for your Office XP CD. Check in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel to see what the name of
the Office XP Edition listed there is. There was a
"Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage" edition, and the Office CD you have should match that name. If you do not have
the matching CD, you may need to uninstall that edition, restart the PC then install from the Product CD that you do have. (backup
your files before doing anything though, just for safety).

Hi, BoxOfRocks,

It sounds like Office needs to update or install additional componetns from
your original CD that may not have been needed until now. So, if that's
what Office needs, you'll need to supply the CD that contains those
components.
