I've recently upgraded our small network from a windows workgroup to a
domain, meaning that on each client pc a new user account has been
created and therefore a new Outlook 2003 user profile has been created
on each client pc also. I have copied each users PST file into the new
location (c:\docs and settings\%username%\local settings\application
data\microsoft\outlook\) with the desired effect of replicating all the
contents of the Personal Folders.
Everything has worked fine apart from on one pc where the user's
contact info has not exported correctly. When the user clicks on the
Address Book icon they receive an error message stating:
"The address list cannot be displayed. The contacts folder associated
with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or
deleted or you do not have permissions"
I have since tried using Outlook's export utility to export only the
contacts folder and re-import it into the new user profile but the user
still receives the same error message. The strange thing is that if
the user clicks on the "contacts" icon in the folder pane then they can
see the correct entries - its just that outlook is not auto-completing
addresses typed into the address field of new mails and is also
obviously getting the error message above when clicking the "address
book" button.
Can anyone help please?
