Why have Microsoft done this? I have heard it is due to implementation of a
new graphic handling technology within Word which makes the "old-style"
lines, arrows, text boxes and wordart incompatible with graphics. So now you
can't group them or even select them in the same loop. Even Ctrl+A can't
select them together.
Who allowed this to happen? It's vital for laying out documents! Why
couldn't text boxes be handled in the same layer or whatever so that they
could be selected at the same time as graphics? This is un-user friendly and
a set back from previous versions of word.
I don't want to have to use a drawing canvas just so I can move them at the
same time - I see Microsoft has opted to have the "Automatically create a
drawing canvas" option turned OFF by defalut in Word 2007, because of course
everyone was complaining about it in Word 2003. I just want to be able to
select a picture, an arrow pointing to it and an explanatory text box at the
same time - too much to ask evidently
