Unable to import contacts pst file

A friend has exported his contacts from OL as a pst file and emailed them to
me. When I attempt to import them into my OL is gives an error that I do
not have permission and to contact my administrator.
My friend uses OL on XP and I use OL 2000 on 98SE
Can anyone help with this or can I convert the pst to CSV file and import.
I do not know how to access the pst file to create a CSV file.

First, save the PST to your hard drive. Then remove the read-only
attribute. Then start Outlook and click File>Open>Outlook Data File (or
Personal Fodlers File, depending on your version), browse to the PST, select
it, and click OK. This will give you access to the data it contains. Open
the contacts folder in it, select everything with CTRL-A then click
Edit>Copy to Folder, specifying your Contacts folder as the destination.
Avoid export and import when working with PSTs.

Hello Brain,
I get two errors
Properties for this information service must be defined prior to use and pst
is not compatible with this version of Personal folders information service.
Is there any other way of accessing the pst file.

You cannot use a unicode 2003 .pst file in any earlier versions of Outlook.
Create a 97-2002 version .pst file in Outlook 2003 and move all of your data
to it.

You're trying to open a Unicode (Outlook 2003) PST with an earlier version
of Outlook. That's not possible. You'll have to ask your friend to
generate an ANSI PST for you to use.
