Unable to import Project tasks from Outlook

I'm new to MS Project. I've been given the assignment to have Outlook
integrate with MS. Project to allow for collaboration between the project
manager and the developers of my organization.

So, I've installed MS Project Professional 2003. I've created a login to MS
Project Server via MS Project Web Access 2003. Also, downloaded the Outlook
integration component from Project Web Access.... so I have 2 new buttons on
Outlook for importing and updating assigned tasks.

Next, I've created several projects and assigned tasks to myself. I can see
that the tasks have been assigned to me via MS Project Web Access in the
Activities tab, but if I click on the import task in Outlook, I'm not able to
see anything on the Outlook calendar.

Do I need to configure something else? Why am I unable to import task
assignments?

Check the PWA settings in Outlook under Tools --> Options.
Also when are your tasks assigned to you?

The PWA settings in Outlook are the default.
The radio button selected: Interval date of PWA
The radio button selected: Only manually for Importing from PWA to the
Outlook calendar and Updating from Outlook calendar to PWA

Also, the Show confirmation dialog window before importing or updating are
both checked off.

The URL specified is correct for Project Server and I'm logging in using my
Windows account, which also is a valid account in Project Server.

In the advanced options,
The radio button: update project manager and the radion button: following
predefined setting of Outlook for reminders are both selected.

Please note that I'm using an Italian version of Project Server, Project
Professional so the wording may not be exactly correct.

Not sure what you mean by... when are your tasks assigned to you.
What I've done is in a new project or existing project, I've created a task.
Then click on the Assign Resource button in the Standard tool bar. Then
assign the task to a resource (which is myself, I've tried both added myself
from the Address book and from ProjectServer). Then, select Collaboration
--> Publish --> Assign new or updated ...

I then get an email in Outlook saying that the manager has assigned a new
task with all the details of the task.

But, when I try clicking in Outlook the import assigned tasks button, it
gives me a message saying no new assigned tasks to update. I get this same
message when I click on the button to update Project Web Access.

Am I missing something?

Hi Gisela,

I tried to replicate your situation in my lab but I can't get your
results.

What I would suggest is that you remove the MPSADDIN and then reinstall
it again to see if it fixes the problem.

Let us know if it works or not

I removed the add-in and then reinstalled it again.
I created a new task... but I still get the message saying... no assigned
tasks to update.

I also saw an error in the MS Project Server Spooler:
MessageType - Error - Time - ProjectFile - Server - Mgr - Interested User
Account

with the following info:
MessageType: Publish New and Modified Tasks
ProjectFile: project1.mpp
Error: SYSTEM ERROR (0x80004005)
Server: the name of my Project Web Access website
Manager: Administratore
Interested User Account: it was blank; not sure if this is correct?

I managed to solve the problem.

The reason Outlook can not import the assignments is because I saved
the project as an 'Administrative Project', try not to save a project
as an administrative project will solve the problem.
