Unable to install 2000 without CD

I am using a gateway laptop computer. I bought Microsoft Office 2000 Premium
and loaded it (by CD) onto my computer. I am trying to upgrade to Microsoft
Office 2003 and can't. It is unable to uninstall 2000 without the CD. I no
longer have the CD. Is there anyway to bypass this need for the CD and get
2000 off my computer so I can upgrage?

Is this an upgrade edition of Office2003?
Since if it is, then without the qualifying version cd you wont be able to
install it.
Catch 22 ?

If I don't upgrade to anything, can I still get 2000 off my computer without
a CD? It won't let me add/remove programs even.
