Unable to install Equation Editor

I've followed the instructions below to install Equation Editor, but when I
open Word, and Insert Object, the Equation Editor still is not a choice.

Equation Editor is included on your Office 2003 CD, but it is not
installed by default. You can add the feature to your installation by
inserting the CD and clicking on Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove
Programs | Microsoft Office 2003 | Change | Add/Remove Features. You'll
find Equation Editor in the "Office Tools" category.

I'm running XP and Office Professional (don't know if it makes a difference,
but I bought a Student License version from my school)

Any suggestions? I never even get prompted to insert the Office CD. I
tried running Setup.exe directly from the installation CD, but no change.
After I follow the instructions above, it says that it has updated
successfully.

Thanks for any help!

If the install files were copied to your HD, you might not need to insert
the CD. If you have set Equation Editor to "Run from my computer," it should
be installed.

ok-- I did a search, and Equation Editor is installed on my harddrive. I
have a follow-up question regarding how to incorporate this program when I
write Word documents. I've never used it before; and it looks like I can
open Equation Editor separately, write up my equations and then insert it
into a Word document.

But, from the way my professor explained it to me in class, I should be able
to open Word, and go to Insert Object and find Equation Editor under Create
New. From here, I can use Equation Editor to directly write my equations
into my Word doc instead of having to go back and forth between 2 different
programs.

So, Equation Editor is installed on my HD, but still doesn't appear in
Word>Insert>Object>Create New. Any suggestions? or is this how it's
supposed to be?

Thanks!

Try this: Open Tools | Customize, select the Commands tab, and find Equation
Editor in the list of Commands for Insert category. Drag it to your Standard
toolbar. What happens when you click on this button?
