Unable to Install Office 2003 on 1.5TB drive

After upgrading my PC to 1.5TB hard drive, Office 2003 will not install from
the CD. It says there is not enough hard drive space. Is there a fix for this
problem?

Did you upgrade the HD by replacing the existing and then clean install Win
& your apps?
What does Disk management say about your HD?
The err msg should indicate the drive letter that has a lack of space

Thanks for the reply - I am actually the one having the issue - funny I found
this post from someone trying to help me.

Basically installed a new 1.5TB drive, fresh install of windows and
attempting to load all software back onto drive. During installation, Office
is not properly recognizing the drive size. Disk management says I have
approx 1.3TB of available disk space. Office says I have -500 approx, and
will not let me continue the install/setup process citing insufficiant disk
space as the reason.

It would appear that the drive size is larger than Office 2003 can
recognize. Hopefully this is enough info for someone to provide me with an
alternate - I may try installing 2007 hoping the technology for TB+ drives
has more support

But does the err msg indicate the C drive?

As for which drive I'm encountering the error, my only logical choice is C:
as I am only running this one for now until I get it setup, which then I will
be adding two additional drives.

I think partitioning might be my backup option. The person I am doing this
for is not very PC savvy, so I cannot guarantee they will use both partitions
- potentially setting up a recipe for them to fill up the c: partition and
leave d: empty - so I am trying to leave it one size.

I am going to give something a shot though and see if it works: I will fill
up the disk with backed up files from his other drives, until the available
disk space reaches a level below the 1TB mark. I'm hoping by eliminating the
extra digit in the free space, Office will be better suited to determine
there is space available. If this does not solve my issue - I think
partioning may be the only way.

I'll be sure to update this post once I find a reasonable solution. Thanks
for the input

Beth's hypothesis is logical I just find it odd that a Google search doesn't
seem to reveal anyone else experiencing this problem

I didn't turn up anyone else encountering the same issue either but I seem
to recall something about difficulties installing Office 2007 when over 1 TB
was available and I'd say the same would apply to Office 2003. Granted I
could be remembering incorrectly since it's a vague recollection from way
back during the beta. :)

OK - So here's the deal. I did end up doing 2 partitions. The Primary C:
was 200GB, and I created D: which was 1.2TB. Office still was not very happy
with me. It indicated the correct available free space on C: (which was the
selected install drive), but it still showed a negative availability for the
D: drive due to it being partitioned over 1TB. I ended up having to delete
the partition from disk manager, so windows only recognized a 200 gig
partition on the drive, nothing else.

Once everything was installed, I simply had to go into disk management and
re-mount the unallocated portion of the disk.
