Bob,
I'm a little confused here. I have a local account setup when I installed
Vista which is a member of the Administrator's group on my workstation.
I've
tried logging in with this account and installing but I still get the
same
"Error 1913". I've also logged in with a domain account which also is a
member of the local Aministrator's group with the same result.
If you'd like to contact me about this offline please call 713-910-7700
or
email at (e-mail address removed) and remove the nospam. This
issue is blocking our evaluation of Outlook 2007 BCM as a replacement for
our current ACT system.
Any help is very greatly appreciated.

I can attest that it works fine on Vista RTM, as I personally have two
boxes running fine as well as many internal folks with the same
configuration.
Can you try something for me? Try logging into the box as the original
local admin account, not a user with admin rights. See if that makes
any
difference - it's obviously a permissions issue, so we just need to
find
out how to get the proper privileges. Thanks for your patience!
Regards,
Bob
Bob,
No. I have tried this with the UAC on and off, using an account which
is
a member of the local administrators group and the language is
English.
I've opened a support case (SRX061211601264) and the support tech was
able to repro the issue on my machine. It looks as if the install
routine
does not have sufficient privileges (TrustedInstaller) to write to the
"C:\Windows\system32\mapisvc.inf" file.
I've seen several other posts in the outlook newsgroups that would
"suggest" that no one has been able to install this on Vista RTM
successfully.
Any suggestions?

Hi Jeff,
There are several bugs around this during the beta, and all involved
either not running Vista with Admin rights or involving a non-English
language pack. Any chance that either of these fit your scenario?

Bob Cooley [MSFT]
I've opened a support case with PSS on this issue and the support
tech
agrees that this looks like a bug in the Outlook 2007 BCM installer
routine when installing on Vista. The issue has been sent to the
product group for review. Hopefully we'll see a work-around soon.

I finally found the file but it "seems" to have the proper
permissions
for the TrustedInstaller.
Any ideas why this error is occuring?

I am unable to install the Outlook 2007 BCM on Windows Vista
Business
(RTM) due to the following error.
"Error 1913.Could not update the INI file
C:\Windows\system32\mapisvc.inf. Verify that the file exists and
that
you can access it."
This file does NOT seem to exist on my Windows Vista Business
client.
