Unable to install Service Pack 2 Upgrade

L

Larry

Title says it all. I have Service Pack installed but for some reason, I
can't install the new upgrade. In the event I have to walk away from this
new version, how do I stop MS from reminding me everyday to install the
downloaded upgrade?

Thanks,

- Al

P.S. I meant to say that I have Service Pack 1 installed but not able to
install service pack 2.

What exact error messages are you receiving and what are the specs of your
system?

I have the same situation as another person has posted above me:

"Thats all the failure dialog box says, repeatedly. I tried several times
since auto update keeps bugging me to do it. Is there no way to shut it up
on
failures?"

I'm using a no-name P4 system with WinXP. Think I'll disconnect Norton's
Internet Security the next time the install message pops up in the event the
install is trying to register the upgrade.

I'm getting:

Error Code: 0x80070643

I have the regular P4 machine running WIN XP.

This issue may occur because the Microsoft Windows Registry is corrupted and
a registry key that provides the path of the original installation source for
the Microsoft Office 2003 program is missing. Or, some third-party programs
that modify the Microsoft Windows Registry removed the registry keys that are
required by the Office 2003 Setup program.

go there.

Fixed!!

Rather than run the risk of further messing up my Windows Registry, I
de-installed the program, re-installed the program to enter a new 'correct'
registry and then did the updates.

Works perfectly!

Thanks Elias, I couldn't have fixed it without your advice.

I have the exact same problem, however since SP2 doesn't really 'fix'
anything related to what I'm using it for I'll wait .

I'm having this very same problem. I've done this fix with the registry
and it doesn't help. I've uninstalled Office 2003 and reinstalled it,
that doesn't help. I've downloaded the full off line install executable
and I get this message whenever I run it:

"The expected version of the product was not found on your system."

So what should I do now?

I use Firefox as my Web browser because I want a browser that
complies with Web standards. See <http://www.mozilla.org/>.

I have the same problem. However, I cannot deinstall and reinstall OneNote
because it came bundled in my Toshiba notebook, without an installation disk.
What could I do?

And you're running an otherwise fully patched Windows XP machine? Home or
Pro?

Have you tried doing a Detect & Repair on OneNote? (Help menu)
