Unable to Install SP3 Office 2003

Is this a question for which there is no answer>? Eveywhere I read this
question the thread suddenly stops short of an answer.

In Office 2003 SBE SP1 I am trying to download SP3. It comes back with a
message "The expected version of the product was not found on your system".

There is a KB for this but it is about network based installs and this is an
ordinary laptop.

In the log it reports much the same, no product found to update.

I have tried the full and client versions with the same problems. I've
repaired Office in the add/remove section.

How can I solve this problem....pleeease??

There is no SP3 for Office 2003. There is one for Office XP.

Yes, I have SP2 for 2003. I also tried SP3. Either way, neither will install.

I was thinking 2003 is the same as XP because they both came out in 2003.

No, they are not the same. They did not come out at the same time.
