UNABLE to KEEP 2 versions of Pubulisher on the computer?

Stevan

I have just installed Publisher 2007 on my laptop as a separate version. Now
I see that my Publisher 2002 website file will not open as it produces an
error.
I have been told in the past that I can install two different versions on
the same computer and then use them separately. This does not seem to be
true and Microsoft support has just told me that I CANNOT have two versions
installed together as the file may be corrupted and will not work. What is
your onion and how is it that DavidF who previously answered my question in
this forum was able to have two versions saved on the computer (David, if
you read this please let me know). I need to know if there is a way of
saving two different versions of Publisher on the computer please and if so,
why is Microsoft tech support telling my otherwise?

I have 3 different versions.
As there are functional differences between versions you may have to stick
to using one version for one project but there is no conflict in haveing and
using each with due care.

What is the error that you get??

You may run into some problems if you edit your web file with 2007 then
later try to use 2002 but there should be no problem opening a 2002 file
with 2007 then saving it and continuing to use 2007.

Stevan,

I am sorry. I should have also added that you probably should keep the Pub
2002 files and the 2007 files separate from each other. Pub 2002, 2003 and
2003 Pub files are supposed to be interchangeable, but I have read of a
number of people who have had problems. I am careful to keep all the Pub
files from each version in separate folders and don't mix them as a rule to
avoid potential problems. Please tell me that you have a backup file of your
original 2002 file!

Stevan,

Though I am still hoping that you have a backup file, I thought of something
you might try. Open the file in 2007, and do a Save As a Pub 2000 file. Then
try to open that one in 2002.
