Unable to open a document.

I was working on a document and my PC crashed. When I try
to open this now I receive the following error
message: "You cannot put a drawing objects into a text box
call out comment foot note or end note". When I click on
OK my document is not there.
Windows NT – MS Word 97.

Can someone please help?

Start a blank document and try and insert the other document into it.
