Unable to open a Word document saved in the .docx format

I am using Word 2007 and have been saving the same file in .docx format for
months. I was working on the same document again, saved it, and when I tried
to open it, I get the following error: The Office Open XML Recipebook.docx
cannot be opened because there are problems with its contents. Details:
Part:/word/doucment.xml Line 2, Column 307527. I can open the same file if I
save it in .doc format. The file contains many tables, and I have a table of
contents at the beginning and an Index at the end of the document. File size
of the .doc is 878 KB and the .docx is 470 KB.

I am not sure what you mean by Open and Repair, are you referring to MS
Office Diagnostics in Office 2007.
Any way, the problem resolved itself when I shut down my computer last
night. When I started it up this morning, I was able to save and open the
same document in .docx format. The only thing I can possible attribute the
problem to was I had installed the last three MS Windows XP updates, KB
890830;941644 and 943485 just before I started working with this file.

It's a mute point now but I do not see a Open and Repair when I do a File -
Open in MS Word 2007.
