unable to open default email folders (outlook 2003)

I was messing around in windows explorer and clicked to show hidden files (I
think). Since then have been unable to get outlook to run. Error message is
unable to open default email folders. File access denied. Don't have
permission to access file (outlook.pst). This is occuring on my personal
laptop -- no networks or sys admins involved. Any ideas?
