Unable to open document due to User does not have access privilege

Although I have created the Word document, when I try to open it I receive
the message "Word cannot open the document: user does not have access
privileges" and will not go any further. I am able to open all of my other
documents except for these 3 specific ones. I can't even copy the files in
Windows Explorer and move it to another location.

Thinking that perhaps it was an issue with my Norton Internet Security, I
disabled it totally but still have the same problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Disable the Office Plug-in in Norton AntiVirus.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately it still will not allow me to open
the document.

Just wanted to share with you the result of how I was finally able to resolve
my dilema. Someone shared with me the following link
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=308421, "How to take ownership
of a file or folder in Windows XP" I simply followed the instructions and now
I am able to open all folders, files and even transfer them.

I have followed the steps in this knowledge base but I still have the
problem. I can't open the file and I'm getting the same error message.
