Unable to open email attachments

I am unable to open email attachments I receive that are in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe. This is an intermittent problem in that it does not happen all the time. However, when it does happen, I can open Mail, retrieve the message and open the attachment with no problem, so it's definitely an Entourage issue. What can I do to fix this?

I am using OfficeMac 2008 Home & Student edition for Word, Excel & Powerpoint.

Make sure you have downloaded the entire message. Check in your Account
under the Options tab and be sure you don't have partially download messages
checked.

I am using OfficeMac 2008 Home & Student edition for Word, Excel & Powerpoint.

Normally when you have a large message on an IMAP server, Entourage does not
download the entire message. In that case you will see a link in the message
address section saying "Receive entire message". Click on that before trying
to download the attachment.

Or, as Diane suggested, in the Account Settings, go to the Options tab and
uncheck "Partially download messages...". Then Entourage will always
download the entire message, no matter how big it is.
