Unable to open Entourage

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

When I click on Entourage from the dock, it begins to open (i.e. Entourage makes the attempt) & then I get a prompt that reads: "This identity cannot be opened with this version of Entourage" I then reinstalled my copy of Office 2004 & experienced the same thing. I purchased BOTH versions so it's not as though I am attempting to install un-bought versions. Any help would be greatly appreciated & thanks to all in advance.

Entourage 2004 cannot open an Entourage 2008 identity.

Entourage 2008 can only open identities created by the same version of
Entourage or older. If you've recently re-installed Office 2008 then
make sure it is fully patched using the Help --> Check for Updates
feature. You may be attempting to open a newer identity with a slightly
older version of Entourage.
