Unable to open Excel and work

After I open Excel many sheets start to open with garbage
inside each one of them. After a while the system asks me
to save the files. I cancel and exit out. Not sure whats
causing the application to do that. I have removed and
reinstall the office suit. Also I am in the process of
updating office with the latest service pack and patches.

Hi,

Two possibilities:

- there are many files in a folder called XLSTART
- IN excel's Tools, options, general you hae an entry
in "Alternate startup file location"

Excel tries to open ALL files from these locations.

To get into excel and check the Tools options thing:

Start, Run,
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office\Excel.exe" /Automation

Quotes mandatory, Note you may have to change the path.

Then go to Tools, options.
