Unable to open multiple projects

We are running Project Server 2007 and Project Professional 2007 with all of
the current updates. In the past I was able to open several projects from
Project Center together to create a Master Project for review and reporting.
Now when I highlight the projects of interest and click edit, Project opens
as expected but the project is empty. I can find no changes that were made
to IE or Project that would cause this to happen.

Anyone experience this problem before? How did you fix it?

Thanks

I should also add that I can open projects one at a time from Project Center
but not multiple projects at one time from Project Center.

Yes. I can open the projects one at a time but not two or more at a time. I
have removed and reinstalled Project Professional 2007 and the Active-X
controls in PWA and still no success. We have three separate installations
of Project Server and I have the same problem on all three. I have also
compared my IE settings with another user, who can open multiple projects,
and have found no differences.

Thanks

Frank:

The additional informaton suggests that it is specific to your machine.
Please verify this by logging onto your coworker's system and try opening
from that machine. If this is the case, you can try a few remedies: First
delete the local browser cache and delete your local project cache. To
completely delete the project cache, follow the instructions here:
http://www.projectserverexperts.com/ProjectServerFAQKnowledgeBase/LocalCacheCorruption.aspx

If this doesn't work it suggests profile corruption on the workstation. I
suggest you logon to your machine as a local administrator, then rename
your profile on your desktop to .bak and logon as yourself again to force a
profile rebuild. Then migrate your profile elements to the new profile.

OK - fixed:) I had already tested the problem using another user account and
knew for sure it was limited to me, so I renamed my profile directory (I am
part of a corporate domain) and started a new login. This created a new
profile and fixed the problem. This is an arduous process as you have to
reset all of the tweaks you may have made setting up your environment from
your e-mail settings to the appearnace of your desktop. Copying over some of
your sub-directories doesn't recreate the world as you knew it but it does
help some.

What concerns me most is that I still do not know what was corrupted or how
so I expect it will happen again to me or another user. I still have all of
my old profile configuration and files and will continue, as time allows, to
see if I can pinpoint the problem.

In the meantime I am back up and running and appreciative of Gary's insight
othewise I would still be muddling through a long list of could-be's.

Thanks

Frank:

If you discover anything, please share it here as many of us would like to
pinpoint this issue. The one thing I have seen is that this rarely happens
to an average user and tends to strike those who administer things. Glad
you're up an running again.
