Unable to open new document

Stop Gap

I have a problem with opening a new document. My trouble is that, after
typing in text in the document and saving it, then closing Word, now,
every time I open Word anew, instead of being presented with a new, clean
document, I'm faced with the same text I saved under another name. I
don't know what it was that I did when I saved the text document that led
to this, but whatever it was has left me with the written text document
rather than a blank document. How do I fix this?

You probably accidentally saved the document as a template. Close
Word, rename normal.dot (to normal.old, e.g.), and reopen word.

Thank you. Where do I locate normal.dot?
