Unable to open Notepad (txt) doc

Hi,

I made a text doc in notepad & it now it will not open (I get 2 error
messages- invalid file format & access denied).If I right click the file I
get a shortened list without properties.
Does anyone know a way I could try to open this file/fix this?
I am most grateful for any advice. Thanks

Have you tried opening the file in Word?

Try: Open, files of type, scroll down to either .txt or recover text from any
file.

Notepad is a Windows application, might ask this in a Windows group.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for your advice.
When I tried to open it with Word I get an error message saying the filename
is too long , use Map network drive to connect to server to shorten the file
name.
(As I stated when I right click this file I do not get a full list of
commands & 'rename' is not available.'Open with' is available, but the file
will not open with any of my listed programs!)

I tried this but unsuccessfully (I don't understand this map network drive
option).
Perhaps I'll try posting in a Windows forum & not just this Office forum.
