Unable to open Ofc Docs from CD-Rom copy

A few month's back I've backed up/copied "My Docs" onto a
CD. Since then my harddrive crashed and I no longer have
these docs. I need to open one of the backed-up files
(Workd and Excel), but all I get is this error
message "The document name or path is invalid". The docs
were created in Office 2000, which I'm still using today.
Is there a way to get these docs to open?? Thanks.

Copy the files to your hard drive. Right click on each file {or selected
group of files} and select Properties. Clear the Read Only box.

Unable to copy to hard drive. Error Message: "Cannot
copy 'file name':Cannot read from the source file or disk."
Also, none of the files are read only.

Are you doing this in Windows Explorer?

PS anything on a CD-ROM is read only(thats what the RO in rom stands for)

If it says 'Unable to read from source drive' either the drive or the CD is
faulty.

This would not be an Office issue then. But as Ringwood said it is a
problem with the CD drive or if other discs work fine, a problem with
the disc itself. When you determine which is causing the problem, post a
question to a newgroup for your operating system for the best response.
