Unable to open Powerpoint

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

My powerpoint cannot open at all. when i click on it, it says " you cannot open the application "Microsoft Powerpoint" because it may be damaged or incomplete"

what should i do?

Try renaming it (by adding a 1 or an a before the .ppt)

Have you moved or deleted anything from the Microsoft Office 2008 folder?

Start up from your OS X installation disk & run Disk Utility - Repair Disk.
It may be necessary to run it more than once if any errors are found.

What specific update level is Office currently at? You might try applying
the 12.1.0 Combo update, but if there actually are missing or damaged
program files you may very well have to reinstall.

Post back with the answers/results to the above before attempting to
reinstall... There's a specific procedure to follow if that becomes
necessary.

Sorry, but this is not an appropriate suggestion no matter how well
intended. The OP stated that s/he is having a problem launching the program,
not with opening a file.
