Unable to open secured database

Diane

Using Access 2000
Database created by previous employee no longer part of
the company. No one knows admin security password &
cannot open database.

Is there a way to work around this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thx, Diane

If it was properly secured, then you would likely have to resort to one of
the password cracking programs available on the internet ... of course,
before doing that, try downloading the MS Security FAQ and going through the
steps necessary to "desecure" the database ... often, security is not
properly implemented and is easily diverted.

Dumb question: I presume someone has asked the person or
that they are not willing/available to help?

Another question is why on earth businesses do not write down the passwords
etc.!

I once worked for a defence organization. We had contractors writing Access
databases. Some of the db's were secured. I suggested to my boss, that it
might be a good idea to require the contractors to >WRITE DOWN< all the
security info. He looked at me as if I had suggested that he run down the
street naked ...

Thanks everyone for their input - it's amazing how many
passwords (not only in Access but in MSProject, etc.) get
lost.

I tried the MS Security FAO - no help. Oh well .....

Thx again,
Diane
