Unable to open templates after Office 11.2 update

The most recent update might have had something to do with this, right?

I read through these posts, but nothing has worked for me. I repaired
file permissions, too, after restarting - without luck. I'm running
Tiger (OSX 10.4.2).

Templates are located in the correct Template folder.
Templates are correctly designated to open PowerPoint.
Templates have no ".ppt" suffix (but I also tried ".pot" and added
".ppt")
I tried opening using the menu command, keyboard command, and
double-clicking.
I ran & re-ran the AutoUPdate application.

Nothing seems to work, and I cannot open/apply any templates.

Please suggest a workaround or solution.
