Unable to open Word docs

Boxy

First post so please forgive what may be a basic error on my part but.....
When trying to open any Word doc I get "Winword has caused an error in
MSO9.DLL Winword will now close". I close the error box and get "Windows
cannot find(address and name of doc). You may have typed the name incorrectly
(I haven't, I've just double clicked on the icon) in the Run dialog box or
another open program cannot find a system file (don't think I've got anything
else open).

All help gratefully appreciated.

Hi Boxy,

From the name of the file in the error message it would appear that you are using Word 2000, is that correct?

If you open Word and use File=>Open to try to open the same document do you get the error?

Sometimes owing to changes in file location you may have carried out under
Explorer the file drop down box that shows the last few files does not find
the one you want. If you separately select open and then select from the
entire list or if you go into Windows Explorer and double click on the
actual .doc file you should be OK. The list of recent files is often not the
best place to access them from!
