I received a Word document from a coworker who uses
Office 2000 (I have Office 2003), and I received this
error every time I tried to open it:
"Word experienced an error trying to open this file. Try
these suggestions:
Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space.
Open the file with the Text Recovery Converter."
None of these options worked. It's as if Word 2003 was
unable to convert a Word Document published in an earlier
version. I even saved the file (from the coworkers
desktop) to our network, and it didn't help. After
repairing the document, I was able to see the text, but
it didn't preserve any of the formatting. Ultimately, I
converted the document to a pdf from the coworkers
desktop and was able to access it.
Has this happened to anyone else? I'm at a loss. Any
help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Amy
