I have had trouble opening my Word 2002 documents. I am
using Xp. If I try to open Word directly, I receive the
error message, "The file C:\....PDFMaker.DOT is not
available." I have gone to your website and downloaded
the Support.DOT Template. However, using every method
that you have listed (and there are two depending upon
your starting point), I have come to the same place - I
can't get the Support.Dot macros to load. I can start
Word from the winword.exe /a switch and I do not get the
error message. Yet, when I try to open a document, to
include the Support.Dot, I get the same error message -
"The File SUPPORT is not Available." Instead of the
SUPPORT the name of the Word file is present. So, you
see I can't get the Trouble Shoot Utility into the Word
program to run the macros. I tried to open the
Support.Dot in WordPad and it at least appeared, but as
you probably know the Macros did not work. I have tried
to use every resource to correct this problem, but
without the Trouble Shoot Utility (Macro), I am at a
lost. Oh, yes, once the error message appears and I
clear it by clicking the "OK" button, I can use the Word
Program to type and create and save documents. I can
take that file to another computer and retrieve it with
word without difficulty. I just can't pull it back into
the Word Program that created it. If I load Word from
the Program Shortcuts, I have a difficult time closing
out the program. I then get the error message, "Do you
want to save changes to the file Normal.Dot"? I AM AT A
COMPLETE STANDSTILL. What do I need to do and where can
I find additional help that does not cost me "an arm and
a leg"?
Thank you for any help in this matter.
Sincerely at your Service and in His,
