Hi.

when I click on Word icon (or try to open a word document or even a new document) it doesnt't work. Even the icon does not move. I've tryed excel and powerpoint and they jump, and then open new documents, but word is " bloked". How can I solve the problem?

Thank you very much

Sounds like you might have moved the Word application so that the system can
no longer find it.

What "else" were you doing on that machine when the problem began?

Have a look for " Microsoft Word.app". It should be in "Mac
HDD:Applications:Microsoft Office 2008:Microsoft Word.app"

Try dragging it to the Dock to create a new icon. That might fix it.

Cheers

Dear John.

Thank you very much for your advise.
I did what you asked me, but when I moved the Microsoft Word to the dock the icon was "stuck" with the download item. So, I just moved the Word (plus download..they were together) back to the HD, but now I cannot find Microsoft Word anymore.

I imagine I did worst....

Do I have to reinstall Office again? (Will I be loosing data?)

thanks

Hi Joana:

Yikes!!

I have a horrible feeling that you have dragged the entire Application into
a "Folder" named "Dock".

You need to find a single file named "Microsoft Word.app" and ensure that
that is placed in your Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/ older.

Then if you drag THAT to the Dock, the operating system should create a
shortcut for you.

However, I think it is time you took that computer to an expert who can help
you.

I would be very hesitant to recommend re-installing Office with your system
in its current state, because I cannot be sure what, exactly, that is.

Normally, if you correctly run the Remove Office tool, then correctly
perform a re-install, you will not lose data. However: I am currently not
at all sure of the state of your system, so making any kind of a
recommendation would be quite dangerous.

You could try re-installing: BUT YOU MUST UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT THE RISK.
It is possible that you might lose the entire system and all of its data.

Much safer to let someone who knows Macs well have a look at it first: they
can check to make sure that what I am fearing is not the case, then help you
through the re-installation.

Don't forget to take your Office CD and your Product Licence Key with you
when you visit the expert: they will need both; and your Administrator
Password.

Hope this helps

Hi John.
I found the word (I think). It is in workflows. It asks me to " run" the workflows, but I have not done anything.

Even so should I go tomorrow to Apple store?

I would really rather you did go to the Apple Store... I need someone who
is used to outwitting computers to look at that machine and make sure there
are no other hidden problems.

I hope all that's wrong is that the file "Microsoft Word 2008.app" has
gotten dragged into the wrong folder. If that's true, drag it back where
it's supposed to be and everything will work. But since that condition is
so unusual, I really need someone computer-skilled to look and make sure
nothing "else" happened as well.

And for pity's sake don't let them tell you "Just re-install, that will fix
it." I promise you it won't, and has a high possibility of making the
problem worse. But sometimes a junior Help desk kid will tell you that to
avoid actually thinking about your real problem :)

Cheers
