unable to open word or excel files

I've created some files, word and excel a few weeks ago.
Till yesterday, I am still able to open and use these
files. However, I am not able to use them today. What
could be the possible cause?

Hi Agnes,

If you recently installed an Office update then the most likely
culprit is Norton AV. If you use Norton then go to Norton Options and
in the Miscellaneous section disable the "Office Plug-in" option.

If the above doesn't apply then please provide the version of Office
you are using, patches you have installed, and the exact error
message.

You are right. The Norton AV is the cause of the problem.
When I uninstall the AV, the problem goes away. Thank you.
