Unable to open XLSX files from Windows 2008 Office/Excel

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Since upgrading to SP2, when I try to open the file. it states that I can't open the file, and I'm advised to perform a auto-update. But of course there isn't anything new. My co-worker is experiencing the same issue.

I too started seeing this issue after the SP2 upgrade. Some folks on Macfixit.com have also seen this, but no one has a real solution.

BTW...failed to mention that I'm on 10.5.7

Talked to MS Support, and this appears to be a known problem with no immediate fix. Short of un-installing Office (since the SP can't be backed out)
