I just installed Outlook 2000 on a Win XP laptop. I get
this message when I try to open Outlook. I had another
computer with Outlook 2003 but then got a new laptop and
had to downgrade to Outlook 2000. I transfered the .pst
file to this new laptop but Outlook does not
open...Unable to open your default e-mail folders. The
information store could not be opened. Any
suggestions?? I've uninstalled and reinstalled, spent
hours looking at the kb, but still no luck. We are not
using an Exchange server.

Outlook may be running in compatibility mode.

search for outlook.exe

right click it and go to properties

click the compatibility tab

uncheck "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" (make sur
nothing is checked
on this screen)

hit apply and ok

open outlook, should be functioning
